May 5, 2005 Houston, Texas - Coming off a victory at the Penn Relays last weekend, former world champion Anjanette Kirkland joins former NCAA Champion Jenny Adams to headline the list of athletes who will be competing at the University of Houston Invitational Track and Field Meet this Saturday, May 7, at the Carl Lewis/Tom Tellez Track and Field Complex. She returned to Houston this year and is training under her former coaches at UH, Mike Takaha and Kyle Tellez. Her former teammate at UH and four-time All-American Ifoma Jones is scheduled to compete in the high jump. Also competing will be four-time USA champion and former Cougar All-American Sandra Glover, who was ranked as the top 400-meter hurdler in the world last year. In addition, another former Cougar All-American and world class competitor, Dawn Burrell will compete in the long jump, and American record holder Kim Kreiner is entered in the women's javelin. In the collegiate division, Houston will compete against athletes from Rice, McNeese State, Prairie View A&M, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Lutheran, Texas-Pan American and Trinity.
