Rusteberg Places Third In the Men's Pole Vault At The Houston Invitational
May 5, 2006 Houston - University of Houston senior Tom Rusteberg registered a third place finish in the men's pole vault at the Houston Invitational Track and Field Meet Friday night. Competing for the first time since the Texas Relays on April 8, Rusteberg cleared 4.90 meters (16-0.75) to edge Mike Ludlow of Stephen F. Austin. Drew Terry of Texas and Matt Adkisson of Sam Houston State tied for first place in the men's pole vault after they cleared 5.05 meters (16-6.75). In the women's pole vault, Danielle Aanerud cleared 3.35 meters (10-11.75) to finish in eighth place. Beth Spearman, who competed unattached, was the women's pole vault champion after clearing 4.05 meters (13-3.50). Amanda Villanueva registered a mark of 47.18 meters (154-9) in the women's hammer throw to finish in sixth place, while Lucas Mireles had a throw of 38.05 meters (124-10) to finish in 12th place in the men's hammer. It was the first time Mireles competed in the hammer. Amanda Ferris of Texas-Pan American won the women's hammer with a throw of 52.93 meters (173-8), while Isaac Ybarra won the men's hammer with a throw of 61.87 meters (203-0). Andy Tackett also had a seventh place showing in the men's javelin with a throw of 55.56 meters (182-3). Tackett finished just ahead of teammate Jarrett Flax, who finished in eighth place with a throw of 51.45 meters (168-9). The men's javelin winner was Lars Larsen of Southeastern Louisiana with a throw of 71.11 meters (233-4). Roshunda Betts of Sam Houston State won the women's javelin throw with a mark of 51.09 meters (167-7).
