    HOUSTON -- University of Houston track and field head coach Leroy Burrell announced the addition of 18 student-athletes to the track and field team. Seven women and 11 men will join the Cougars in 2007-08.

    WOMEN
    Devin Bailey (Coppell, Texas/Coppell) was the USATF Regional Champion in the 800 meters and finished fifth at State in the 400 meters with a time of 56.52. She was also third in the 800 meters at the USA Junior Olympics; it was her third time at the competition. Bailey will also be a member of the UH Honors College.

    Kiara Pulliam (Louise, Texas/Louise) is a 1A State Champion in the shot put and holds a personal record of 44-11.50. This past season she broke the Class 1A record in the shot put with a throw of 44-02.00 to finish as the 2007 State Champion. Pulliam has a personal record of 44-11.50.

    Kalyn Floyd (Houston, Texas/Hastings) is the younger sister of UH senior All-American Ebonie Floyd. She holds personal bests of 24.62 in the 200 meters and 53.5 in the 400 meters 11.57 in the 100 meters. Her father, Stanley, was a track star at Houston and was the 1982 NCAA 100 meter champion and the 1982 NCAA 60 meter runner-up. Her mother, Delissa, finished fifth in the 800 meters at the 1988 Olympics and was a nine-time National Champion and 12-time All-American at Tennessee. Her sister, Ebonie, is a Cougar record holder and a Conference USA Champion.

    Candyce Cross (Missouri City, Texas/Thurgood Marshall) is a 200 and 400 meter runner. She finished third in District in the 400 meters and is a two-time State Champion in the 4x400 meter relay. Her 4x400 meter relay team's time of 3:40.05 was the third fastest in the nation last year. Cross has a personal best 24.54 in the 200 meters and her school finished second in the state last year. Her father, Tyrone, also ran track in college.

    Charlissa Foster (Cameron, Texas/Cameron Yoe) is a three-time district and regional champion in the shot put and discus. She was the state runner-up in both the shot put and discus in 2006 and was the 2005 state champion in the discus. She is the 2007 State Champion in the shot put and discus. Foster has personal best throws of 160-0 in the discus and 45-10.5 in the shot put.

    Christi Jones (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch) finished fifth in the 5A State meet in 2007 in the 100 meters with a time of 11.98 and finished the 200 meters in 24.36. She was the 2007 Region 3 Champion in the 200 meters and the runner-up in the 100 meters. She currently has the state's sixth fastest time of 24.15 in the 200 meters.

    Shannon Arnold (Midland, Texas/Midland) finished eighth in the pole vault at the 2006 Great Southwest Classic. She tied for third at the 2007 5A State meet at 11-06.00. Arnold was the runner-up at the 2007 5A Region I Meet.

    MEN
    Thomas Lang (Wallis, Texas/Brazos) set personal bests at the 2007 State meet. He finished second in the triple jump after clearing 49-06.75, second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.32 and was third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 38.37. Lang is the 2007 State Champion in the high jump after clearing 6-08.00. He holds a personal best of 23-02.00 in the long jump and finished first in the triple jump at the 2006 Great Southwest Classic.

    Chris Carter (Hearne, Texas/Hearne) is the 2007 State Champion in the triple jump after clearing 50-10.50 and was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles. Carter set the AAU Junior Olympic Games record in the triple jump in Knoxville, TN in 2007. He cleared 52-01.25/15.88m to win the event. He also finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the long jump at the state meet. Carter won the high school long jump competition with a jump of 7.18m/23-07.00 at the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on April 4-7. He has personal bests of 23-7 in the long jump and 51-02.50 in the triple jump.

    Ed Turner (Katy, Texas/Mayde Creek) holds a personal best of 25-01.00 in the long jump. He has consistently jumped over 24 feet since his freshman year and will also run the 100 meters and be a member of the 4x100 meter relay team at Houston. He holds a personal best of 10.4 in the 100 meters.

    Brandon Myers (Houston, Texas/Eisenhower) is a sprinter and was a member of the IAAF World Junior Team in Beijing, China and was recently featured on the cover of RISE magazine's April edition. He is a 2006 State Champion and has a personal best 10.45 in the 100 meters.

    Quentin Luttrell (Milwaukee, WI/Marshall) was an Indoor AAU Champion in the 60 meters (6.49) and has the second fastest 100 meter indoor time of 10.42 in the state. He also has the fastest 200 meter indoor time of 22.49 in Wisconsin.

    Derek Schutz (Houston, Texas/St. Thomas) set a TAPPS state record of 15-09.00 in the pole vault at the 2007 TAPPS State meet. He holds a personal best height of 15-10.00. Schutz is a 2007 District Champion.

    John Harvey (Shreveport, La./Barton County CC) is a sprinter with personal bests of 10.44 in the 100 meters and 21.2 in the 200 meters.

    William Krokey (Woodstock, Ga.) will join the team as a thrower. He has marks of 207.07 in the hammer throw and 64-11.5 in the weight throw. His hammer throw was the ninth best throw in the nation. He will also be a member of the honors college.

    Kevin Reagan (Convington, Texas/Covington) is a high jumper. He holds a personal record on 6'10" and was the 2006 1A State Champion.

    Brian Brown (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) is a pole vaulter. He participated in the 2006 Class 5A Regionals last year and has a perosnal best of 15'10".

    Lamar Delaney (Nassau, Bahamas) will participate in the long jump and the triple jump for the Cougars. He holds personal bests of 24-02.00 in the long jump and 52-10.00 in the triple jump. Delaney finished third at the 2006 Bahamas National Track and Field Championships in the triple jump. He was also third in the triple jump at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Junior Track and Field Championships.
