Sweeney Claims Two Individual Titles During Final Day of Conference USA Outdoor Championships

June 1, 2012

HOUSTON - University of Houston's Megan Frausto was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Second Team Friday afternoon. The award was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and is designed to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

A junior from Royse City, Texas, Frausto maintains a 3.91 GPA in kinesiology while also earning USFCCA All-America second team accolades in the pentathlon. Frausto finished 12th in the nation at the NCAA Indoor National Championships after claiming the Conference USA indoor crown in the multievent earlier this year.

During the outdoor season in 2012, Frausto finished second at the C-USA Championships in the heptathlon and advanced to the NCAA Preliminaries in the high jump, her specialty event.

Frausto has earned the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal all three years while at Houston in addition to being named to the C-USA Honor Roll each year during that span. Last year, she was named to the USTFCCA All-Academic Team.

Frausto plans on attending medical school at the completion of her career.
