HOUSTON - Senior Ebonie Floyd was named the South Central Region Female Track Athlete of the Year as announced today by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Floyd earned the award for her record setting performance in the 200 meters at the NCAA Midwest Regional. Floyd set a regional record with her 22.32 win in event earning her the second fastest time in the world. She also took won the 100 meter competition.

Her performance at the NCAA Midwest Regional followed a successful showing at the C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships where she earned gold in the 200 meters, 400 meters, 4x100 and 4x400 relay. She was named the Female Performer of the Meet as well as the Female High Point Scorer of the Meet after setting conference records in the 200 meters, 400 meters and in the 4x100.

Floyd will compete this week at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, Calif. She will run in the 100 meter, 200 meter and 4x100 relay events. She enters the meet leading the nation in both the 100 and 200 meter events.
