Track and Field Ready for NCAA Outdoor Championships
June 5, 2012
HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team has wrapped up two days of practice at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, as they prep for the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Cougars will send a relay team from both the women's (4x100m) and men's (4x400m) side along with five individual qualifiers.
The NCAA Championships begin Wednesday, June 6 and last until Saturday, June 9.
Drake Stadium is a familiar site to half of the women's 4x100m relay team as Grecia Bolton and Tai'shea Reese earned All-American honors last year in the event. The women's relay starts things off for Houston as semifinals start at 5:45 p.m. The top-two times in each heat plus the next best two qualify for the finals on Sunday.
Junior Errol Nolan narrowly missed on being named to All-American status as he placed ninth (45.30) last year at the Championships. Nolan is Houston's first individual entry as the Rosenberg, Texas, native competes at 6:30 p.m. in the 400m.
Bolton will also compete in the 100m on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
