HOUSTON - Eric Futch won the 400m hurdles at the USA Junior Track & Field Championships in Bloomington, Indiana. With his performances, the incoming Houston freshman qualified to compete for Team USA next month at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain.

Futch, the 2011 Gatorade Pennsylvania Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year, entered the meet as the No. 1 seed in the nation and did not disappoint as he bested his own nationally-leading time with his 50.73 finish.

The native of Penn Wood High School, the same school head coach Leroy Burrell graduated from, bested the field by over two seconds in the prelims before cruising to a victory in the finals.

John Horton, fresh off his freshman campaign at Houston this past year, earned second place in the triple jump (15.58m/51-1.5) and just missed on the qualifying mark to attend the World Championships.

Darrel Hill, another native of Penn Wood High School, placed fourth in the shot put with a personal best of 18.62m/51-1.5.
