    EUGENE, Ore. - Freshman distance runner Brian Barraza claimed a spot on Team USA at the 2014 USA Track & Field Junior Championships this evening in Eugene, Ore.

    Barraza recorded a time of 14:22.07 to finish second in the 5000-meter run and punched his ticket to the IAAF World Junior Championships. He will return to Eugene July 22-27 wearing the Red, White & Blue.

    Freshman William Gibbs took an automatic qualifying spot in the 110m hurdles prelims as he recorded the fastest time in Heat one with a personal best time of 13.58.

    Gibbs moves on to the final round tomorrow at 6:25 p.m. (CT).

    Also competing tomorrow is shot putter Cameron Cornelius. He is scheduled to throw at 6 p.m. (CT)

    Athletes finishing in the top two spot at the U.S. Junior Championships will claim a spot on Team USA and earn the chance to compete at the IAAF World Championships back in Eugene.

    2014 FOOTBALL SEASON TICKETS
    As the 2013-14 track & field season comes to a close, Houston fans can guarantee a place in history by purchasing season tickets for the first ever season in the new Houston Football Stadium. Season tickets are currently on sale starting at just $140 as are Memorial Hermann Family Plan four-pack season tickets, two adult and two youth, for just $299. Lower-level reserved season tickets start at just $200.

    University of Houston alumni from the last five years (2010-14) can purchase season tickets for just $125 (upper levels) and $175 (lower level) in specially-designated Young Alumni sections with a multiplier of four times donations to Cougar Pride giving levels for the first five years after graduation.


     

     

    Houston opens the 2014 season at 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29, when it hosts UTSA in the first ever game in the Houston Football Stadium.

    GROUP TICKET INFORMATION
    Single-game group ticket sales for the inaugural season in the Houston Football Stadium are now on sale via the Houston Athletics Ticket Office. Groups of at least 10 or more can purchase tickets starting at just $21 per person to any of Houston's seven home games, including 2014 Fiesta Bowl champion UCF, by calling the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS or by clicking here.
