Freshman Jason Perez qualified for the 400-meter hurdles final Saturday at the 2007 Pan America Junior Athletics Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Perez won the second of three heats in the event with a time of 52.80. He will race in the finals on Sunday and will also run as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team.
