Houston - University of Houston sprinter Errol Nolan is set to run in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Junior Championship finals Thursday evening.
The Cougar freshman finished second in his heat in the 400-meter semifinals Wednesday to qualify him for the finals at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships. His time of 46.47 made him one of two Americans to qualify for the finals.
Competing in the Junior Division, Nolan traveled to Moncton, Canada to take on competitors from all over the world. The Rosenberg, Texas native blew through the first heat of the race Tuesday with a 46.67 and the semifinals Wednesday to land himself in the finals. The race is slated to begin at approximately 7:40 p.m.
Nolan has bested the competition in the 400-meter event twice this year, including against some of the nation's best at the USATF Championships and at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships. Nolan will look to better his personal-best time of 45.59 in the event.
