HOUSTON - Four home collegiate meets and a high school meet highlight the University of Houston track and field program's 2013-14 indoor schedule, officially announced Tuesday afternoon by head coach Leroy Burrell.
Houston's coaching staff has put together a schedule for the indoor season that will allow the student-athletes to compete against high-caliber athletes.
The team travels to College Station, Texas, twice this season for the season opener Reveille Invitational (Dec. 7) and the Aggie Invitational (Feb. 7-8).
Houston is scheduled to host four collegiate meets in the Yeoman Fieldhouse beginning with the Houston Indoor Opener set Jan. 11. Also on the schedule is the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational (Jan. 17), the Howie Ryan Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 1) and the Houston Tune Up meet slated Feb. 14. The Cougars will host the annual Carl Lewis High School Invitational Jan. 18.
Between two home meets, the team heads to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Cherry & Silver Collegiate Invitational hosted by The University of New Mexico (Jan. 25).
Finally, the squad travels to Fayetteville, Ark. for the University of Arkansas Tyson Invitational scheduled Feb. 14-15.
Since joining the American Athletic Conference, Houston will attend the inaugural conference championship set to take place in the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York City, N.Y., at the end of February.
