    COMPLETE RESULTS

    HOUSTON -The University of Houston track and field squad began their indoor season at the Reveille Invitational in College Station, Texas Saturday afternoon. The Cougars competed against host, and defending back to back to back men's and women's national champion, Texas A&M and TCU.

    "Nice way to open the season," head coachLeroy Burrellsaid. "We had several student-athletes set person records, we have been working and working and now it was time to see where we were. It was a great start for us."

    The meet was hosted at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium and the Cougars competed in eight of the 10 events. Houston earned top-three finishes in a combined 11 events.

    The men's 4x400 relay team placed second in 3:09.51. The relay team was comprised of Kevin Furlough,Errol Nolan, Garret Hughey and Doug Kelly. The women's 4x400 relay withBrittany Wallace,Tai'shea Reese,Whitney HarrisandCiera Johnsonearned third place in 3:46.27.

    Karley Kingplaced second in the women's pole vault with a 3.97m clearance andBrian Brown placed second in the men's competition with his 5.00 vault.
    Both Cougars set personal best marks with their finishes.

    Leon Bullock, who placed second in the men's 60m hurdles recorded a personal best time of 8.07.Jordan Hofbaueralso set a personal record in the 60m hurdles with his 8:40 mark

    John Fortuneplaced third in the shot put and set a personal best with his 16.55m improving on his 15.73m toss from last season.Richard Fentonfinished third in the weight throw with a 17.23m toss. With his throw, Fenton surpassed Brandon Hubbard's 16.82 mark, setting a new school indoor record.

    For the women, junior Emily Nnokwam's hard work in the off season payed off as she placed second in the weight throw, reaching her personal best mark of 17.17m/56-4.

    UP NEXT

    The Houston Indoor track and field season takes a month long break and will resume Jan. 13, 2012 at Yeoman Field House as the Cougars host the Leonard Hilton Invitational.
