The University of Houston cross country men's team placed third at the Conference USA Championships while the women placed eighth at Wildcat Golf Club in Houston on Monday. The third place finish marks the second time Houston has finished in the top-three of the C-USA Championships since 1996.

Senior Wesley Ruttoh led the men's team as he took first overall in the men's 8K race. Ruttoh willed the Cougars to the second place victory as they surpassed Cal-State Fullerton by only two points.

The top-8 UH men and women distance runners finished second in a dual meet with defending Conference USA champions Tulsa on Saturday in Tulsa, Okla.
