Keenan and Florida lead Lady Cougars' Cross Country Team To A Third Place Finish at Texas A&M Invitational

College Station, Texas - Freshman Kelcee Keenan and senior Shawna Florida led the University of Houston women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Texas A&M Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning.

Keenan finished the 5,000-meter course in 17:47 to finish in eighth place. Florida finished in 16th place with a time of 18:28.

Sophomore Oumama Hallal had a 22nd place showing with a time if 18:52, and sophomore Jennifer Harper finished in 27th place with a time of 19:22.

Houston's other two runners, Eva Madrid finished in 40th place with a time of 20:23, and Cynthia Silva finished in 56th place with a time of 22:36.

Baylor won the women's team championship with a score of 15 points as the Lady Bears had seven of the top 10 runners, including the top six finishers in the race. Texas A&M was the runner up team with 58 points and Texas tied Houston for third place with 102 points.

In the men's division, senior transfer Calum Neff, who was competing unattached, finished in third place with a time of 24:46. Junior Paul Goodwin finished in 18th place with a time of 26:07. Senior Maurilio Sanchez had a time of 26:49 to finish among the top 30 runners. Gus Forward had a time of 27:42, and Ben Cohen had a time of 28:18.

Houston will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii, and compete in the Big Wave Classic next Saturday, September 17.
