HOUSTON - The University of Houston Men's Cross Country team took the top spot at the Hawaii Big Wave Invitational. Leading the way for the Cougars was senior Calum Neff. The Woodlands, Texas native took the top spot in the men's 5K race with a time of 15:31.

Finishing sixth was freshman Ahmed Harb with a time of 16:09 and following in eighth was junior Paul Goodwin with a time of 16.22. Also placing in the race for the Cougars were freshman Michael Malain (11th; 16:28.4), Daniel Martinez (18th; 16:46.6), Juston Perez (24th; 17:05.5) and sophomore Adrian Slusher (32nd; 17:39.6).

In the women's race the Cougars earned a second place team finish. Taking the top spot for the Cougars was freshman Jessica Cook who finished second with a time of 15:20.7. Finishing seventh for UH was junior Oumama Hallal with a time of 15:55. Sophomore Jennifer Harper finished 10th(16:01.2), junior Adriane Guinn finished 14th(16:12.8) and freshman Erica Hannemann finished 31st(17:11.3)

The Cougars also competed at the Texas A&M Invitational. Leading the way for UH was freshman Chris Pine who finished 72nd with a time of 29.27.

The Cougars will next be in action Sept. 30 at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree.
