Corpus Christi, Texas - Senior Jessica Oakes returned to run in the her first cross country race of the 2004 season and led the University of Houston women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Invitational.

Oakes finished in 21st place with a time of 19:09, while Veronica Ramirez finished the race in 27th place with a time of 19:19 and freshman Oumama Hallal had a 33rd-place finish with time of 19:44.

Laura Harlett finished the race with a time of 19:49, while Tiffany Abney finished with a time of 20:25 and Adriane Guinn had a time of 20:37. Cynthia Silva had a time of 20:42, while Jennifer Harper had a time of 21:41 and Eva Madrid had a time of 22:34.

The Lady Cougars had 165 team points. Rice won the women's team title with 42 points, while the host school, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, finished in second place with 55 points and Stephen F. Austin finished in third place with 91 points.
