Tuscaloosa, Ala. – The Houston Cougar Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams wrapped the regular season portion of the 2016 season at the Alabama Crimson Classic on Friday.

Men’s Top Finisher: G.J. Reyna – 35th, 25:33.2 (8K)
Women’s Top Finisher: Selena Sierra – 57th, 21:57.0 (6K)
Men’s Team Finish: 26th, 520 points
Women’s Team Finish: 14th, 391 points
MEN’S 8K RACE
For the fourth time this season Houston got its top performance from sophomore G.J. Reyna. The Mission, Texas, native ran the 8,000-meter course in 25:33.2 to cross the line first for the Cougars in 27th. Kody Anderson (26:54.3) and Matt Parmley (26:57.9) were the next Cougars across the line in 125th and 129th, respectively. Alex Arnold and Nicholas Hamilton rounded out the scoring finishing 169th and 181st.
The men’s team finished 20th with 520 points.
WOMEN’S 6K RACE
The two names at the top for the Cougars in the women’s race were no surprise, as Selena Sierra and Maddie Brown continued their successful 2016 campaigns. Sierra crossed first for the fourth time this season with a 48th place finish in 21:57.0, while Brown followed with a 22:23.7 to finish 71st. Jennifer Dunlap finished right on the heels of Emely Morgado for Houston’s next two point positions with Morgado taking 98th (22:46.5) and Dunlap finishing 104th (22:49.2). Nikita Prasad finished the scoring for Houston in 131st after running 23:16.2.
The women finished 14th with 391 points.

The Cougars have 15 days to prepare for The American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship. The 2016 edition of the race will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio, with the women running a 6,000-meter race at 9 a.m. and the men following with an 8,000-meter race at 9:50 a.m.
