    Houston, Texas - Shawna Florida had a sixth-place finish to lead the University of Houston women's cross country teeam to a third place showing at the Rice University Buffalo Bayou Invitational on Monday, October 17.

    Flordia completed the 4800-meter course in 19:01.34. Jennifer Harper finished in 12th place with a time of 19:26.65, and Adrianne Guinn finished in 13th place with a time of 19:27.46.

    Houston's other competitors were Eva Madrid, who finished in 26th place with a time of 20:26.72, while Cynthia Silva completed the course in 21:31.99 to finish in 35th place.

    Maurilio Sanchez was Houston's top performer in the men's division as he finished in ninth place to lead Houston to a fourth place finish. Sanchez finished the 7900-meter course with a time of 26:51.59.

    Gus Forward scored 15 points for the Cougars with atime of 27:57.35, and Chris Pine had a time of 28:49.04 to finish with 20 points. Andy Morris completed Houston's team scoring with 25 points with a time of 30:14.72.

    Houston's next meet will be the Conference USA Championships on October 29 in Orlando, Fla.
