Men's Cross Country Finishes Sixth at Conference USA Championship

MOSELLE, Miss. - The University of Houston men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Conference USA Championship on Monday morning at the Pine Belt National Golf Course. The Cougar men took home sixth-place, while the women finished 12th.
Sophomore Yonas Tesfai crossed the line first for the Cougar men as he placed 11th with a time of 24:55.7, to receive Second Team All-Conference honors. Sophomore Anthony Coleman completed the 8K course in 25:45.4, notching a 26th-place finish for Houston. Freshman Nathan Pineda, who competed in his first conference race, recorded a time of 26:07.0, to finish 32nd overall.
In the women's race, senior Kathryn Ducommun led the way for the fifth time this season as she placed 28th in the 5K race with a time of 18:07.6. Sophomore Taylor Beer notched a time of 18:37.1, to finish 41st overall. Junior transfer Chelsea Huebner placed 50th after a 18:58.6 performance.
The Tulsa men picked up their third-straight title, and the SMU women captured their fourth crown in the last five years.
