Waco, Texas- - The University of Houston men's cross country team concluded their 2003 season with a tie for eighth place at the NCAA South Regional Championships.

Sophomore Cole Dailey was Houston top runner with a 45th-place finish as he completed the 10-kilometer course in a time of 32:42. Alex Winstel finished in 47th place in 32:45 and Maurillio Sanchez finished in 55th place with a time of 33:10.

All-Conference USA performer Sesar Figueroa finished in 58th place with a time of 33:16. Ronnie Martinez and Brent Henson also competed for Houston. Martinez finished in 66th place with a time of 33:42, while Henson had a time of 34:04 to finish in 71st place.

The Lady Cougars had three individual runners, but did not have enough competitors to place as a team.

Shawna Florida was Houston's top runner in the women's race with a 44th place finish as she completed the six-kilometer course in 22:52. Janay Covington finished in 54th place with a time of 23:13, while Terie Littlepage finished in 89th place with a time of 24:22.
