    Barraza Finishes Impressive Season At Nationals

    HOUSTON - The University of Houston cross country program and head coach Leroy Burrell released the 2013 schedule on Wednesday. The Cougars' slate features four regular-season meets prior to the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship at the Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Conn., on Nov. 11.

    The Cougars open the season Aug. 30 as they travel to Waco, Texas, to compete in the Baylor Twilight Invitational followed by a trip to cross-town rival Rice for the Justin F. Cooper Memorial Rice Invitational on Sept. 14. At last years meet, the men's team finished sixth, while the women finished 11th.

    After a two-week break, Houston will head to Austin, Texas to compete for the third straight year at the Rouge Grass Routes Grand Prix. The Cougars will then travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete in the Alabama Crimson Classic on Oct. 18 at the Harry Prichett Running Park.

    The Cougars will have a three-week training period before heading north to Madison, Conn. for the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by UConn on Nov. 11. The NCAA South Central Regional is scheduled for Nov. 15 at Cottonwood Gold Course in Waco, Texas, followed by the NCAA Championships on Nov. 23 in Terra Haute, Ind.
