    Cougars Make Strides At NCAA Regionals

    HOUSTON - Head coach Steve Magness and Houston Cross Country have announced the Cougars' 2014 schedule which includes four regular-season meets before heading into the postseason.

    Houston opens up the season with a couple of meets within the city of Houston, traveling to MacGregor Park to run against Houston Baptist on Aug. 29 at 5 p.m., before heading to compete against long-time rival Rice in the annual Rice Invitational on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. At last year's meet the men's team finished seventh while the women's team finished ninth.

    After a two week break, Houston heads to Corpus Christi to compete in the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Splash on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m., followed by a 21-day training period before heading to Terre Haute, Ind. on Oct. 17 at 10 a.m., for a Pre-Nationals meet.

    Postseason meets begin Oct. 31 at 10 a.m., when the Cougars travel to Tulsa, Okla. for The American Championships. NCAA Regionals will be held Nov. 14 at 11 a.m., in Fayetteville, Ark. with the Cougars returning to Terre Haute for the NCAA National Meet on Nov. 23 scheduled to start at noon.

    Sept. 12, 7 p.m. CT- Rice Invitational (Houston, Texas)
    Sept. 26, 7 p.m. CT- Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islander Splash (Corpus Christi, Texas)
    Oct. 17, 10 a.m. CT- Pre-Nationals (Terre Haute, Ind.)
    Oct. 31, 10 a.m. CT- The American Championships (Tulsa, Okla.)
    Nov. 14, 11 a.m. CT- NCAA Regionals (Fayetteville, Ark.)
    Nov. 23, Noon CT- NCAA Nationals (Terre Haute, Ind.)
