HOUSTON - The University of Houston hosted the 2006 Cougar Classic Cross Country Carnival August 26 at MacGregor Park. The race began with a men's five-kilometer race at 7:20 a.m., followed by an open women's race and a kid's one-kilometer fun run. The high school and junior high races began at 8:30 a.m.

The high school team's finishes were determined by the aggregate time of each team's five fastest runners, regardless of grade classification. Awards were given to the top three teams and top 15 individuals. The junior high races were not scored and awards were given to each winner of the early morning races.
