    The Houston Cougar men and women's cross country teams won three of their four dual meets in a rain shortened two-mile race, Friday at McGregor Park.

    The men swept HBU (26-29) and Sam Houston State (23-32) while the women defeated HBU (16-40) and lost to Sam Houston State (31-24).

    Redshirt freshman Janae Bottoms took home the individual championship for the women with her time of 11:46. Sophomore Amber Hawkins turned in the Cougars' second best time with her 12:04, good enough for fifth place.

    For the men, Houston finished one-two in the individuals. Junior James Broussard crossed the line in 9:47, while his teammate Anthony Coleman crossed just a second slower at 9:48.

    UP NEXT
    Houston travels across town to face Rice in their annual Rice Invitational Friday Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Houston men finished sixth, while the women placed 11th in the 2013 Rice Invitational.
