HOUSTON--After the men and women's cross country team finished first in the Johnny Morriss Invitational, freshman Stephanie Aldea and freshman Nate Pineda were named as Conference USA Cross Country Athletes of the Week.

Aldea finished first in the women's 3,200-meter race at the Johnny Morriss Invitational with a time of 11:13.

The Windsor Ontario-native led the field throughout the entire race to help the women's team finish first with 22 points.

Pineda finished second in the 4,800-meter race with a time of 15:06. The men's team also finished first in the invitational with a total of 36 points.

The Cougars next meet is Sept. 20 at the Rice Invitational in Houston.
