San Marcos, Texas- - The University of Houston men's and women's cross country teams finished in second place at the Southwest Texas State Invitational on Saturday, September 14, 2002.

Senior Mike Olague led the Cougars with a fourth-place finish as he completed the five-mile course with a time of 25:10. Sophomore Jason Banes was fifth with a time of 25:56 and sophomore Cole Dailey was ninth overall in the race with a time of 26:09.

In the women's division, Houston's Kelly McCarty finished second overall as she completed the three-mile course with a time of 17:56. Jessica Oakes was sixth overall with a time of 18:27 and Autumn Tawater was 10th with a time of 18:57.
