Cross Country to Travel to Hawaii and Texas A&M

HOUSTON - The University of Houston cross country team will spilt this weekend and compete at the Big Wave Invitational and the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday.

The Big Wave Invitational is hosted by the University of Hawaii and will be held on the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course and the Marine Corps Hawaii Base. The men's 5K race will begin at 7:30 a.m. (12:30 p.m. CDT) and the women's 4K race will begin at 7:50 a.m. (12:50 p.m. CDT). Houston will compete against host Hawaii, along with BYU-Hawaii, Hawaii-Hilo, Hawaii-Pacific and Occidental.

Texas A&M University is hosting the Texas A&M Invitational. The men's 8,000 meter race will start at 7:45 a.m., followed by the women's 5,000 meter race at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a high school race at the Invitational. The Cougars will compete against schools including Monterrey Tech, Palo Alto College, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, Texas, TCU and others.

The Cougars are coming off a bye week after hosting the Cougar Classic on Sept. 1 at Buffalo Bayou Park. The men and women's teams finished second against Lamar.
