HOUSTON--The Cougars next meet at Rice on Sept. 20 was cancelled because of Hurricane Ike and the meet will not be rescheduled. Instead, the Cougars will travel to UTSA to compete in the Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas Classic Friday.

The meet will be held at the Brooks-City Base in San Antonio, Texas beginning at 6 p.m. The Cougars finished first in both men and women's event at the Johnny Morriss Invitational, hosted by UH on Aug. 29. For the women, freshmen Stephanie Aldea, Starla Garcia and Megan Munoz finished first, second and third respectively.

Freshman Nate Pineda finished second in the men's event, while freshman Cole Bessner finished sixth.

The Cougars will travel to Baton Rouge, La. on Sept. 27 to compete in the LSU Tiger Cross Country Festival, beginning at 9:30 a.m. for the men and 10 a.m. for the women.
