Cougar Cross Country Teams Travel To Oklahoma State

The University of Houston men's and women's cross country teams travel to Stillwater, Okla. to run in the 66th annual Cowboy Jamboree on October 5, 2002.

Both teams were idle last weekend after running in the Sam Houston State Invitational on September 20 in Huntsville, Texas.

The Cougars had their best showing of the season at Sam Houston State with a second-place finish as Sesar Figueroa finished in third place with a time of 24:11. Sophomore Jason Banes finished just behind Figueroa with a time of 24:14. Ronnie Martinez also finished in ninth place for the Cougars.

The Lady Cougars competed without their top two runners at Sam Houston State and finished in third place as a team. Freshman Autumn Tawater was Houston's top women's performer as she finished in fourth place with a time 19:49. Teri Littlepage was eighth among the collegiate runners with a time 20:08 and Shawna Florida finished in 18th place with a time of 20:39.

After the meet at Oklahoma State, Houston will run in the Texas A&M Invitational on October 12 before hosting the Houston Invitational on October 23 in Willis.
