IRVING, Texas--For the second time this season, University of Houston cross-country members, freshmen Nate Pineda and Stephanie Aldea, swept the Conference USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors, announced by the conference office Wednesday. This is Aldea's third weekly honor this season and Pineda's second.

Aldea received the honor after she clocked a career-best 5K time of 17:28 at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic, finishing second among 353 total runners. This was Aldea's fourth-consecutive Top Three finish.

She also helped the women's team finish in 5th place, outscoring 39 teams including No. 14 Florida, No. 15 South Central ranked UTSA and Conference USA-rival UCF.

Pineda also set a personal-best record after finishing the 8K at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic with a time of 26:06. He finished 15th overall out of 316 participants, leading his team to a 7th place finish among 38 teams.

Next Up
The Cougars will travel to Hunstville, Texas on Saturday to compete in the Sam Houston Invitational, slated to begin at 8:30 a.m.
