    Barraza Completes Season in 60th at Nationals

    Barraza Heads to Louisville for NCAA Championships

    HOUSTON -- The University of Houston cross country team will travel to the Conference USA Championships on Saturday in Greenville, NC. The race will be held on Lake Kristi on Mobley's Bridge Road in Grimesland, NC. The women's 5K race will begin at 9:30, followed by the men's 8K race at 10:30.

    The Cougars will compete against four women's and four men's teams that are ranked in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Poll.

    Following the races an awards ceremony will begin at 12:15. The Coach of the Year Award will be announced and the top 15 runners in each race will be named to the All-Conference team. Freshman of the Year honors will go to the top placing man and woman and the male and female Athlete of the Year will be awarded following the NCAA Championship based on the final NCAA ranking. In addition, the All-Academic Team will be announced.

    Last season, the men's team finished fifth led by All-Conference USA performer Sesar Figueroa. Figueroa finished the race in 24:28.14 for a sixth-place finish. The women's team finished 10th. The top runner for the Cougars was Oumama Hallal, who finished the race in 19:03.89 to finish 42nd.
