The University of Houston Men's cross country finished in fifth place Saturday at the Conference USA Championships hosted by USF in Tampa Fla. with a total of 131 points.

Cole Dailey led the Cougars with a 14th place finish followed closely by Cesar Figueroa in 15th place. Dailey finished with a time of 25:37.60 and Figueroa finished in 25:41.60.

The Cougars also had three other runners finished in the top 50, with a 28th place finishe by Alex Winstel Houston in 26:16.00, 34th by Maurilio Sanchez Houston in 26:33.50, 40th by Brett Henson in 26:41.10 and 43rd by Paul Goodwin in 26:44.10. Jason Barnes also competed for Houston, finishing in 67th with a time of 27:58.70.

The University of Houston Women finished in 12th place at the C-USA Championships with a total of 304 points.

Houston was led by Janay Covington's 37th place finish with a time of 23:02.70 in the eight-kilometer run and Terie Littlepage who finished just behind in 38th with a time of 23:07.20.

Also competing for the Cougars was Shawna Florida finishing 51 in 23:39.90, Veronica Ramerez finished 86th in 25:10.00, Rachel Freeman finished 92nd in 25:54.40 and Cynthia Silva finished 96th in 27:39.50.
