Cross Country Prepares for South Central Regional

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.– The University of Houston men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete in the 2012 NCAA Division I South Central Regional Championship hosted by the University of Arkansas on Friday at Agri Park. The women are slated to run a 6K course at 11 a.m., while the men will take on a 10K course at 12:15 p.m. The South Central Region is comprised of teams from a three-state range-Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas-and consists of programs from eight difference conferences including the Big 12, Conference USA, Great West, Southeastern Conference, Southland, Southwestern Athletic Conference, Sun Belt and Western Athletic Conference. At last year’s regional, the men took home a seventh-place finish, while the women finished 17th. RESULTS LAST TIME OUT On the women’s side, senior Kathryn Ducommun led the way as she placed 28th in the 5K race with a time of 18:07.6. Sophomore Taylor Beer notched a time of 18:37.1, to finish 41st overall. Junior transfer Chelsea Huebner placed 50th after a 18:58.6 performance.
