Named to the First-Team Freshman All-America squad by Baseball Weekly and received Second Team Freshman All-America honors from Baseball America... Earned Honorable Mention Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball... Was the only Cougar named First-Team All-Conference USA... One of five Cougars on the league?s All-Freshman Team... Second in conference in strikeouts (98) and ERA (3.41)... One of UH?s three true freshmen in the rotation for weekend Conference USA games... Compiled a 6-7 record with a 3.41 ERA in 18 appearances... 6-2 in C-USA starts with a league-leading 1.96 conference ERA... Held all hitters to a .268 average with an even better .244 mark in C-USA games... Averaged 6.1 innings per C-USA start... Averaged 8.0 hits, 4.9 walks and 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings in league games... Struck out a career-best nine batters three times... Surrendered only one hit, no runs and struck out six for 5.0 innings at San Diego State... Gave up only one earned run in 7.0 innings to No. 2 USC ... Tossed 6.1 innings with only three earned runs against No. 4 Cal State Fullerton... Lost to NCAA-bound South Florida despite giving up no earned runs in 6.0 innings... Earned a save in his collegiate debut with a shutout inning against Texas at Enron Field (Feb. 3)... Also helped Cougars at the plate, going 1-for-5 against Texas A&M (Feb. 27) and lifted a sacrifice fly at C-USA rival Cincinnati (April 8).

Three-time 4A All-State selection by the Texas Baseball Coaches Association (infielder)... named First Team All-State as a designated hitter by the Texas Sportswriters Association as a senior in 2000... First Team All-Greater Houston selection at pitcher by the Houston Chronicle... Twice selected as the Most Valuable Player of District 20-4A, leading Nederland to the state playoffs... Hit .535 with 34 runs scored, 15 doubles, six home runs, 43 RBIs and 21 steals as a senior... maintained a 0.97 ERA with a 4-2 record and two saves, allowing just 25 hits with 114 strikeouts in 54.1 innings pitched... Batted .424 and was 21-5 with seven saves in his career... Coached in baseball by Kip McFarland as a senior ...also a two-time 4A All-State selection for the football team and led the Bulldogs to the Region III quarterfinals and an 11-2 record... Two-year all-district honoree as a quarterback and punter.
