Sat out the entire year after undergoing hip surgery during the fall season.
Appeared in 18 games with six starts... Earned his first win of the season at Sam Houston State... Scattered three hits and one run over five innings with three strikeouts against the Bearcats... Threw one inning of shutout relief against Saint Louis... Pitched one perfect inning of relief against Saint Louis in the series finale for his first save of the season... Threw 3.2 shutout innings of relief with three strikeouts against Louisville in the series finale... Collected his second win of the year in relief at C-USA rival Memphis... Threw 1.2 innings of hitless relief on the way to his second straight win at No. 9 Texas A&M.
Finished year with a 3-2 record and 4.40 ERA... Was masterful against host Texas State at the Lone Star Classic... Did not give up a hit through the first five innings and struck out six on only 58 pitches against the Bobcats... Struck out a career-best nine batters on the way to his first win of the season against No. 6 Miami during the final day of the Kia Baseball Bash... Made his first collegiate appearance in the infield at second base at UAB in the first game of that series... Recorded a putout against the Blazers... Struck out eight in a season-best 7.0 innings against Tulane in the series finale... Threw five strikeouts in only 5.1 innings of two-hit relief against Texas-San Antonio... Helped lead Cougars to series sweep at Charlotte with solid performance in series finale... Scattered four hits and two runs over 6.1 innings against 49ers.
Earned Honorable Mention Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball... Was one of five Cougar freshman to receive that honor... Emerged as UH's Sunday starting pitcher during the C-USA season... Was the staff workhorse after compiling a team-best 96.1 innings... Second on the team with 15 starts and five wins during his first season of Division I baseball... Ranked among the C-USA leaders in three categories... Finished seventh with a 3.74 ERA and placed sixth with 96.1 innings of work... Posted wins over nationally-ranked Texas Tech as well as C-USA rivals Memphis, Cincinnati and Saint Louis... Struck out a career-best eight batters at Memphis as the Cougars swept the C-USA series... Enjoyed his longest outing of the season at Charlotte where he tossed 8.0 innings with only two runs and six strikeouts... Collected the Cougars' only win in the series at NCAA Regional-bound USF after allowing only seven hits and one earned run in seven innings.

Coached by Steve Castillo... Served on Student Council. Senior (2000): All State First-Team selection by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association and Texas Sportswriters Association as a senior in 2000... Named the Most Valuable Player of District 29-5A in 2000 while playing both pitcher and shortstop at Moody High School in Corpus Christi... Led team to a 34-4-1 record. Junior (1999): Earned All-State First-Team honors from the THSBCA and Second Team All-State accolades from the TSA... Also earned all-district as a quarterback for the Trojan football team and 29-5A honorable mention honors as a shooting guard for the basketball squad.

Father played professional baseball at the AAA level and at Tulsa... Majoring in sports administration... Was also recruited by Texas and Texas Tech.
