Nike Sheffer begins his seventh year at UH as a manager with the Cougar Baseball program.

A native of Riverside, Calif., Sheffer is responsible for the maintenance of Cougar equipment and the upkeep of the UH clubhouse. He also serves as one of the team's bullpen catchers.

Sheffer moved to the Houston area in 1992 and graduated from Lamar High School. There he worked with the Redskins baseball program and current assistant coach Jorge Garza for four years.

The son of Dr. Ede Marie Apostolakis, Sheffer was born Feb. 24, 1983, in Loma Linda, Calif., and is majoring in kinesiology. He is single and lives in Houston.
