FULLERTON, Calif. -- For the second straight game, No. 19 Houston Baseball put on an offensive showing, tallying 12 hits, to earn a 10-5 win on Sunday at No. 13 Cal State Fullerton to win the weekend series at Goodwin Field.
Houston improved to 4-2 on the year and won its second straight weekend series, while the 2017 College World Series participant Titans fell to 1-6.
- Joe Davis belted his first home run of the year and 23rd of his career to move into a tie for 7th all-time on the Houston home run list.
- Landon Etzel belted his first home run of the year and second of his young career to put the Cougars up 3-0 in the fifth.
- Dating back to the 2017 season, Cooper Coldiron has now reached base in 15 straight games.
- The bottom three in the Houston lineup combined for four hits, three runs and two RBI.
- Rey Fuentes III and Landon Etzel each recorded a career-high three hits.

As a team, Houston had 12 hits, led by Landon Etzel, who had an offensive showing on Sunday as he led the offense with three hits, two runs and two RBI, highlighted by his first home run of the year. Rey Fuentes III also had a three-hit day and drove in a pair of RBI, while Joe Davis belted his first home run of the year and scored two runs.

Houston starter Ryan Randel earned his first win as a Cougar, tossing 5.2 innings, allowing one earned run on two walks, six hits with two strikeouts. He moves to 1-0 on the year.
Sophomore reliever Carter Henry made his second appearance of the weekend, tossing 1.1 innings, allowing one run on one walk and five hits with one strikeout.
The Houston pitching staff held Cal State Fullerton to four earned runs after allowing 15 hits. The Titans stranded 15 base runners in the game.
4th | Houston jumped out to an early lead with a run in the fourth inning. With two outs, Lael Lockhart Jr. reached on a walk and moved to second on a failed pickoff attempt, allowing Rey Fuentes III to plate him with an RBI-single up the middle to make it a 1-0 game.
5th | The Cougars continued to score in the fifth as Landon Etzel, who was a late add to the lineup when Connor Hollis went down in pregame, belted the team's second home run of the year and his first for 2018, scoring Jared Triolo, who led off the frame with a walk to give Houston a 3-0 lead.
The inning continued when Grayson Padgett reached on an error and with two outs, Joe Davis and Lael Lockhart each reached with a base hit, Lockhart picking up an RBI. With two outs and bases loaded, Cooper Coldiron came up big with a two-out, two-run single to give Houston the 6-0 advantage.
Cal State Fullerton scratches across an unearned run in the latter half of the inning to put themselves on the board for the first time Sunday.
6th | The Titans scored two runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 6-3 game.
8th | Cal State Fullerton managed to load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the eighth, but the bullpen work of Tyler Bielamowicz and Joey Pulido kept the Titans off the board and preserve the four-run lead for the Cougars.
9th | Houston added three insurance runs in the top of the ninth, highlighted by a solo home run by Joe Davis. Lael Lockhart reached on an error and came around to score on an RBI-double by Rey Fuentes III and for the third run, Fuentes made a heads up play and scored on a shallow flyout to the second baseman off the bat of Cooper Coldiron to make it a 10-3 game.
Cal State Fullerton once again put runners on base and managed to scratch across two run in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't enough as the Cougars held on for the 10-5 win.
The Cougars will return to Houston to host Texas Southern at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Schroeder Park before heading over to Minute Maid Park to participate in the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic, beginning with a matchup with Kentucky at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The weekend will continue Saturday vs. Mississippi State at 7 p.m. and wrap at 6 p.m. Sunday vs. Vanderbilt.
