Lafayette, La. - The University of Houston baseball team lost their fifth straight game on Tuesday night, falling 6-1 to the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at "Tigue" Moore Field.

The loss marks the first five game losing streak since Houston dropped five from Feb. 27 to March 6, 2001.

Despite the loss, Houston outhit Louisiana eight hits to four. The Cougars are 0-2 this season when outhitting their opponent.

Louisiana put six runs on the board before the Cougars avoided the shutout scoring a run in the sixth inning. William Kankel scored after a fielding error by first baseman Scott Hawkins after reaching base on a double down the left field line.

It looked as though the Cougars might add to their run total in the seventh inning when Chase Dempsay hit a triple to left center with two outs before being stranded on base when Caleb Ramsey struck out.

The Ragin' Cajuns posted their first run on the night in the first inning and answered with two more in the second. They extended their lead by a single run in the fourth and two in the fifth before Houston would get on the board in the sixth.
