He was relieved by freshman Fred Villarreal, who went 3.0 innings, allowing one run on three hits before handing the ball over to fellow freshman Tyler Bielamowicz', who has seen action in the outfield, but made his first pitching appearance of his career -- striking out the side in the ninth.

1st | After falling down 1-0 due an error in the top of the first, the Cougars quickly responded with an eight-run frame on six hits. Wong and Padgett opened the inning with back-to-back walks before Davis plated Wong with an RBI-double and following a Scheiner walk, Triolo plated Padgett on an infield single.

With no outs and bases loaded, Lockhart cleared the bases with a three-run triple, giving the Cougars 4-1 lead. Julks followed with an RBI-single before Connor Hollis singled and later scored on an RBI-single by Wong as the Cougars batted around in the inning for the 8-1 advantage.

2nd | Houston added to its early lead with another run in the second thanks to a Scheiner home run -- his ninth of the year -- to put the Cougars ahead 9-1.

3rd | The Cougars scored two more runs in the third on back-to-back RBI-singles by Davis and Scheiner, scoring Wong and Padgett -- who reached on a fielder's choice and HBP, respectively.

4th | Texas Southern made things interesting in the fourth when the first four hitters reached via a single with one scoring. With bases loaded, Henry worked his way out of the jam, inducing two flyouts and a strikeout to keep the Tigers to just one run.

5th | Another multiple-run inning occurred in the fifth as Houston added three more. Tyler Bielamowicz led off with a walk, Wong doubled and Padgett plated a run on an RBI-single for the 12-2 lead. Davis plated another run on his third hit and Triolo notched an RBI with a fielder's choice deep in the 5-6 hole for the 14-2 lead.

7th | Houston went up 16-2 in the seventh with two more runs when Rey Fuentes III led off with a single, moved to third on a Scheiner double and scored on a Monacy RBI-single. Monacy later came around to score on a bases-loaded walk by Bielamowicz.

8th | Texas Southern homered to open the eighth for its third and final run of the game.

Texas Southern fell to 6-14 with the loss and starter Travis Smith was issued his first loss of the year, after allowing eight earned runs on nine hits in 3.0 innings of work. The Tigers tallied 10 hits, led by Kamren Dukes and Sterling Motely each with two hits.
