Baseball Drops Series Finale To TCU, 9-1

HOUSTON - The TCU Horned Frogs scored seven runs in the second inning on their way to a 9-1 win over the University of Houston baseball team Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. With the loss, the Cougars (12-13) finish the series 1-2. After a scoreless first inning, TCU put runners on first and second to set up Joe Weik's RBI single through the left side in the second inning. Zac Jordan plated two Horned Frogs' runs with a triple to left center and Aaron Schultz put TCU up 7-0 with a grand slam over the center field fence. The Cougars got on the board in the fifth inning on a RBI single through the left side by sophomore M.P. Cokinos. Sophomore Chase Jensen scored on the play after drawing a walk with two outs. TCU scored added two runs in the eighth inning to close out the contest. Junior Codey Morehouse fell to 2-3 on the mound after pitching one inning. He allowed seven runs on five hits with three walks. Sophomore Travis Jenkins turned in six scoreless innings of relief. He gave up just two hits with a strikeout. Taylor Hammack pitched the final inning, giving up two runs on two hits with a strikeout. Cokinos, Jensen and senior Caleb Ramsey each recorded two hits in the game. Cokinos also had an RBI and Jensen scored a run. UP NEXT
