ORLANDO, Fla. -- Houston Baseball saw a 1-1 game slip away in the fifth inning as UCF earned a 6-1 win over the Cougars for the weekend series win to open American Athletic Conference play.
With the loss, the Cougars fell to 20-7 on the year and 1-2 in league play, while UCF improved to 21-7 and 2-1.
The Cougars were out hit by UCF, 13-7. Six Cougars registered a hit, led by Corey Julks' two-hit day, which included his third triple of the year. Connor Hollis drove in the lone run for the Cougars on a fielder's choice, plating Lael Lockhart Jr., who had a hit and scored a run.

Senior starter John King suffered his first loss of the year, falling to 4-1 after allowing two earned runs on nine hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
3rd | UCF jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third after a leadoff single and walk led to a sacrifice fly.
5th | The Cougars responded and tied the score at 1-1 thanks to a Hollis RBI from a fielder's choice, scoring Lockhart, who singled and stole to be in position.
The latter half of the fifth inning led to three runs for the Knights as they took a 4-1 lead after three hits and a Houston error.
7th | UCF extended its lead in the seventh with a pair of runs, following three straight hits, including two doubles for the 6-1 lead.
UCF moved to 22-7 on the year and won the weekend series, 2-1 to open American play. Knights starter Joseph Sheridan struck out six and only allowed one run on four hits in 5.0 innings for the win.
Houston returns home to host the next four games at Schroeder Park. The homestand will begin with Game 1 of the Silver Glove Series with Rice on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Cougars will remain home to host American Athletic Conference foe East Carolina in a three-game set next weekend (Friday & Saturday: 6:30 pm, Sunday: 1 pm).
