In his last start, he helped lead the Cougars to the series sweep at UCF on March 25 with an impressive performance in the series finale. He allowed only three hits with three strikeouts in six shutout innings, retiring 10 of the first 11 batters that he faced to set the tone for the game.
In his last outing, he allowed three runs off a hit and two walks in 0.1 innings at Baylor on Tuesday.
Sunday's game will be Touchton's first career appearance against UAB.
UAB is scheduled to throw freshman southpaw Ben Styes in the finale. This season, Styes has posted a 2-3 record with 15 strikeouts and a 4.67 ERA in 34.2 innings.
The Cougars struck for the game's first runs in the first inning, thanks to four hits and three UAB errors. Lormand led off with a walk and moved to second following Tully's single through the right side. Cesario reached on an infield bunt single and both Lormand and Tully scored when the Blazers overthrew first base and then booted the ball in the outfield.
Two batters later, Josh Stirneman lined a single up the middle to plate Cesario and hand the Cougars a 3-0 lead.
The Blazers trimmed the deficit to a run in the next half inning when Patmon's RBI-single to center field and a Cougar error in the outfield put the score at 3-2.
The Cougars pushed their lead to four runs in the bottom of the second off three hits. Felix Fanaselle laced a double into left center and scored easily on Lormand's triple down the right-field line. After walk to Tully, Cesario lined an RBI-single into right center to plate Lormand. Three batters later, Luis Flores drew a walk to load the bases, and Bryan Pounds added another walk to force Tully home for a 6-2 Cougars lead.
The Blazers pulled to within 6-3 in the fifth inning on Lovdahl's two-out, RBI-single through the left side.
In the sixth inning, the Cougars pushed their lead to 7-3. After Tully reached on an infield error and moved to second following a two-out, intentional walk to Josh Stirneman, Flores lined an RBI-single into left field.
UAB cut into the lead again in the seventh when Patmon's sacrifice fly to center field plated Phil Bell, who led off with a triple to center field.
In the eighth inning, the Cougars put their final marks on the scoreboard. After lacing a leadoff single to left field and stealing second base, Dustin Kingsbury moved to third following a wild pitch and scored easily on Chris Joseph's RBI-single into right field. Zak Presley reached on an infield single to load the bases, and Lormand smashed a two-run single into left field for the final margin of victory.
