The Golden Eagles would pull within one run, plating one batter in both the third and fourth innings but Houston took a two run lead in the sixth scoring a single run. With two outs, Caleb Ramsey singled to left field scoring Runte who led off with a walk. Southern Miss would score the final run of the series in the seventh inning but it wouldn't be enough to take the lead as the Cougars took the series finale with a score of 4-3. Dozier once again scored for the Golden Eagles after reaching base on single. Houston was nearly shutout for the first time this season but in the bottom of the ninth the Cougars put together a little rally that scored William Kankel who reached base on a wild pitch.
