Luis Flores went 2-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run, while sophomore outfielder Jimmy Cesario went 2-for-4 with a double to extend his hitting streak to a career- and UH-season-best 14 straight games. Texas A&M reliever Scott Migl earned the win and improved to 5-1 after holding the Cougars to only four hits with five strikeouts in four shutout innings. Blake Stouffer went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs, while Luke Anders batted 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs to lead the Aggies, who outhit the Cougars 12-9. The Aggies struck for two runs in the first inning, thanks to RBI singles from Stouffer and Anders for a 2-0 Aggie lead. The Cougars cut that lead in half in the next half inning when Flores blasted a 1-0 offering over the left-field wall. Texas A&M used a two-out rally in the bottom of the second to push it lead back to two runs at 3-1 on Ben Feltner's RBI-single to right field. But again, the Cougars answered in the next half inning with a run of their own. Ryan Lormand reached on a fielder's choice and scored easily when Chris Joseph blasted a double to the wall in center field to pull to within 3-2. The Aggies struck for three run in the third inning on Spencer Jackson's RBI-single, a wild pitch and Dalton's RBI-double. After both teams endured a 1-hour, 5-minute rain and lightning delay, the Aggies pushed their lead to 7-2 in the fourth inning on Anders' RBI-single to center field. Texas A&M grabbed an 8-3 lead in the seventh inning on Stouffer's infield RBI-single. In the ninth inning, Zak Presley led off with a sharp single through the left side and moved into scoring position following a wild pitch. Felix Fanaselle then smashed a RBI-double to the wall in left center to plate Presley for the final margin of defeat. |
