Millington, Tenn. - Pitchers Jared Ray and Donnie Joseph guided the Cougars to a 1-0 shutout victory over Memphis on Friday night in the series opener against the Tigers at USA Stadium.

In his first Friday start of the season, Ray pitched six innings, allowing four runs, five walks while earning his second win of the season. Joseph came in to pitch the final three innings giving up just one hit while striking out two batters.

The shutout victory was the Cougars first this season and their first since a 5-0 win over Stephen F. Austin on April 15, 2008.
