Baseball Loses Mid-Week Match-Up At Sam Houston State, 5-3

Huntsville, Texas - The University of Houston took an early 2-1 lead in a rematch with Sam Houston State but could not hold on for the win, falling 5-3, Tuesday night at Don Sanders Field.
Houston falls to 16-23 on the season and 1-1 against SHSU this season.
After two and a half scoreless innings, the Bearkats were the first to notch a run, as Taylor Davis scored on Kevin Miller's sacrifice to right field. But Houston answered in the top of the third inning. Chris Wallace led off with a walk and advanced to third on Ryan Still's single through the right side. He would go on to score on Blake Kelso's single to center field. Caleb Ramsey followed that up loading the bases after being hit by a pitch and Still would put the Cougars on top, crossing home when Bearkat pitcher Justin Jackson was charged with a balk.
Houston would hold on to the narrow lead until the home half of the fourth inning as David scored on Tyler Fiebrich's double to right field, tying the score 2-2.
The Bearkats would go on to regain the lead, 3-2 in the sixth inning, before adding an insurance run in the seventh and eighth innings for their final total. UH was able to score a single run in the top of the ninth, when Wallace scored on Austin Gracey's double to left field after reaching base on a single through the middle.
