Baseball Looks To Bounce Back Against UTSA On Tuesday

HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team will look to jump back in to the win column at 6 p.m. Tuesday when they travel to San Antonio to take on UTSA.
The Cougars (5-2) are looking to bounce back from a 1-2 series loss to Ole Miss over the weekend at Cougar Field after starting the season 4-0.

The midweek match-up marks the 23rd overall meeting between the two programs. Houston split two meetings with the Roadrunners last season, winning 14-8 on the road and losing 6-5 at home. The Roadrunners are off to a 4-5 start. They have gone 2-2 in both weekend series against Louisiana-Monroe and Saint Joseph's and lost an afternoon affair with Oregon State, 10-7 in 10 innings, on Monday.
Senior Chase Dempsay will make is second start in as many games against the Roadrunners. He pitched three innings against Ole Miss on Sunday, allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts. He is posting a 3.00 ERA this season.
Through the first seven games of the season, Chase Jensen is leading the Cougars with a .441 batting average. He is tied for the team lead with eight RBIs and has two doubles, a triple and a home run. On the mound, Matt Creel has not allowed a run in 8.1 innings of relief and is 2-0 with six strikeouts.
Jake Wood leads the Roadrunners with a .467 average, with a double, home run and eight RBIs. Taylor Walton leads all pitchers with a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA. In 11 innings he has allowed seven hits with eight strikeouts.
