HOUSTON - University of Houston Athletics fans will want to mark Friday, April 11 on their calendars as they make plans to take part in the Cougar Spring Fling. This event, which will benefit local charity Generation One, includes the Houston Football Spring Game at Carl Lewis Field and the opening game of the Houston Baseball series vs. 2013 College World Series participant Louisville at Cougar Field.
The 2014 Houston Football Spring Game kicks off at 6 p.m. and will be followed by an autograph signing with selected players on the right field berm of Cougar Field. Houston Baseball’s series opener vs. Louisville begins at 7 p.m. The Cougars and Cardinals will also square off at 6:30 p.m., April 12 and 1 p.m., April 13.
Tickets for the Cougar Spring Fling, good for general admission to both events, are just $5 prior to April 11 and $10 on April 11. Tickets can be purchased in advance through UHCougars.com or by calling the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-462-6647. Tickets on the day of the event can be purchased at the Houston Athletics Ticket Office, located in the Athletics/Alumni Center at 3100 Cullen Blvd., or at the event’s entrances beginning at 5 p.m.
All Houston Baseball season ticket holders and single game reserved seat ticket holders ($12-15) will be admitted into Cougar Spring Fling with their previously purchased tickets. All seating at the Houston Football Spring Game will be general admission.
An event for the entire family, the Cougar Spring Fling will also offer local Houston food trucks and a family fun zone in the area located between Carl Lewis Field and Cougar Field. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for a Spring Game Cougar Walk leading from the north side of Athletics/Alumni Center to Carl Lewis Field at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Cash parking for the Spring Fling will be available in the Houston Football Stadium parking garage and in lot 16C located across from Cougar Field on Cullen Blvd.
Ranked among the top 25, the Houston Baseball program will face one of its toughest tests of the 2014 season when it hosts American Athletic Conference preseason favorite Louisville during the weekend of Spring Fling. Reserved seats for the series can be purchased for $15 for adults and $12 for youth, faculty/staff and “H” Association members while general admission tickets for the series can be had for $10 for adults, $7 for youth and $8 for faculty/staff and “H” Association members.
Fresh off its 22nd bowl appearance, the Houston Football program returns 28 players with starting experience including 94 percent of both its passing and rushing yards, 80.6 percent of its receiving yards, 85.1 percent of its tackles, 100 percent of its sacks, 72 percent of its interceptions and 94.4 percent of its fumble recoveries.
2014 FOOTBALL SEASON TICKETS
Houston fans can now purchase season tickets in the new Houston Football Stadium. General admission season tickets are currently on sale for just $140 as are Memorial Hermann Family Plan four-pack season tickets for just $299.
For those interested in purchasing 2014 reserved season tickets, fans may place a $200 season ticket deposit at UHCougars.com that will give access to participate in a 24-hour Select-A-Seat process in May. The $200 deposit is not a fee and will go towards the cost of season tickets. Lower level reserved season tickets begin at just $200.
