2012 UH Baseball Season Preview: Infield/Outfield

Alumni and 2012 Cougars Represent Houston Baseball Well

March 21, 2006

Hey Cougar Baseball Fans,

Well, this past week was fairly eventful to say the least. We were able to snatch a few key victories, but lost a few close ones in the process.

This past Tuesday we were able to get past Baylor. The Bears were a tough team and, if my memory serves me correctly, were ranked 18th in nation in one of the polls. So, needless to say, that win was huge.

This past weekend, we hosted San Diego and let me tell you, they were a tough opponent. They had a strong pitching staff and a few hot hitters. On Friday, they we able to grab the lead in the eighth, but we made a few costly errors in the ninth. That game ended up going into extra innings with USD going out on top. Even though Brad Lincoln pitched another gem, we just couldn't seem to get the last out that we needed in the ninth to finish the job for him.

On Saturday, we faced a really good pitcher that might be in the big leagues one day. We did ok off of him, but he still shut us out. Ricky Hargrove pitched really well and I thought he had his best stuff all year, but we just couldn't get him any run support.

Sunday, on the other hand, was a different story. We really came out playing hard and ended up getting a victory on a walk-off home run by our very own Bryan Tully. Jake Stewart had yet another good game, and a good weekend for that matter. I think Jake had at least 2 hits in every game this past week. It's really good seeing him back to his old self since he came back from knee surgery.

Well, I've got to go eat a little pregame meal at Skeeter's, so until next time...

Thanks, Brett
