HOUSTON - University of Houston junior pitcher Donnie Joseph was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after guiding the Cougars to two wins over No. 29 Lamar and UAB last week.

In the second game of the series against UAB, Joseph came in relief and pitched 3.0 innigs, holding the Blazers to three hits with six strikeouts to earn the win and give Houston the series win.

On the weekend, Joseph pitched a combined 9.1 innings, giving up just five hits and three runs, while striking out 14 batters.

Joseph and the Cougars will be back in action Tuesday against Louisiana Lafayette. The game is slated to start at 6:30 p.m. at Cougar Field. Following the mid-week game, Houston will travel to Tulane for a three-game series this weekend.
